Legal Background
According to FCL.710 and GM1 FCL.710:
Pilots shall complete differences training or familiarisation in order to extend their privileges to another variant of
aircraft within one class or type rating. In the case of variants within a class or type rating, the differences
training or familiarisation shall include the relevant elements defined in the OSD, where applicable. (…)
Differences training requires the acquisition of additional knowledge and training on an appropriate training
device or the aircraft. (…).
The aim of the course
This course is intended to familiarize the pilots type rated on the ATR 42/72 PEC (500 series) with the
necessary theoretical knowledge and skills required to safely and efficiently operate the ATR 42/72 Glass
Cockpit (600 series).
Pre-entry requirements
In order to commence the ATR 500 to 600 series difference course, the candidate pilot must fulfil the following requirements:
Commanders and co-pilots
- Must have a valid ATR 42/72 Type rating
- Must be current and qualified on the ATR PEC and have a minimum experience of 500 hrs. total or 100hrs. in the last twelve months on ATR aircraft.
